The National Theatre Association of Malawi [NTAM] is pleased to announce the return and re-birth of the Malawi International Theatre Festival 2022, a Theatre Festival under the National Theatre Association of Malawi. The National Theatre Association in its quest to bring back theatre to the direction and standards it deserves and in promoting culture and the Arts in Malawi has worked hard to deliver a memorable year for both local and international Artists. The festival will take place every year and in 2022 the festival will take place at several venues in Blantyre from Friday the 2nd Of December 2022 to Sunday the 4th of December 2022.
The 1st Edition of the Malawi International Theatre Festival will be held from 2nd – 4th December 2022 in the city of Blantyre, Malawi. The Festival calls for local presentations in contemporary theatre, Storytelling, Poetry, and dance.
The Festival is the first of this kind in the whole of Malawi. Its aim is to promote the interrelation between art and the languages of cultural exchange. The current open call, addressed to Malawian artists, is for projects on ‘Interaction between arts and culture. The inaugurated venues will be announced shortly
Eligible projects and Applicants:
- Drama, Poetry, Dance, and Storytelling.
- Art and new technologies performances.
- Registered member (Individual/group) of the National Theatre Association of Malawi
Subject to agreements with the festival’s technical director, material required for the presentation of the performance/show/play/installation, and the technical rider template can be downloaded here: Technical Rider Template.
Selection criteria for the shows: topic and esthetics making it interesting for discussion, high-quality video.
